Dr. Shannon Robertson Doctor of Chiropractic
Dr. Shannon’s interest in health began in high school in upstate New York where she spent a year collecting data on nerve cells at the University of Albany and co-authored a research paper on fetal alcohol syndrome. She set her sights on pursuing a future in the allopathic medical field but made a drastic career change as a junior at Cornell University after shadowing a chiropractor.
The field of chiropractic care resonated immediately with her, as it centered on the body’s natural, powerful ability to heal itself and focused on finding the cause of a patient’s condition versus simply treating the symptoms. Dr. Shannon graduated magna cum laude from Cornell, majoring in biology with a concentration in neurobiology, and went on to earn a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the University of Western States four years later.
Dr. Shannon has spent the last 15 years joyfully providing chiropractic care for patients. Her treatment style is diverse and incorporates a variety of techniques based upon the preference and needs of her patients, including both high-velocity diversified adjusting style as well as several gentler options, including activator-assisted, drop-table, passive stretching and joint mobilization.
Her patient population is diverse, but she especially loves working with chronic pain suffers, teens, healthcare providers, desk workers and patients who have “tried everything and can’t seem to find relief.” As someone with hypermobile joints herself, she is also passionate about helping people on the hypermobile spectrum. And she cannot forget her favorite population to work with…pregnant mamas. She has been certified in the Webster technique for the last 10 years and has helped countless brave, strong, amazing women through their pregnancies.
Dr. Shannon aims for long-term solutions for her patients, and this often involves referring out for advanced imaging, rehabilitating weak and unstable joints with a physical therapist and/or receiving an evaluation with a specialist. She loves collaborating with other providers to ensure that her patients have a team of people all working together towards the same goal.
When she is not in the office, Dr. Shannon spends her days being an active mom of two middle-school-age daughters, watching Duck football games, cooking healthy foods for her family, and exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest with her husband, kids, and Jarvis the Goldendoodle (yes, like Jarvis from the Ironman movies).
