Hazel Black Licensed Massage Therapist & Chiropractic Assistant
Hazel’s approach to massage is deeply influenced by her background in dance and movement-based practices, as well a persistent interest in the healing power of authentic human connection. As an experienced intentional mover, she is well aware of the time and careful effort required to understand the nuances of each unique human body. Preferring to work with the tissue, rather than against it, she sinks in slowly—modulating pressure, listening, and responding to micro shifts and changes. She thinks of bodywork as a conversation, both verbal, between the therapist and patient, and physical, between her contact and the response of her patients’ musculoskeletal and nervous systems.
With a well-rounded bodywork education from East West College of the Healing Arts, Hazel utilizes a range of modalities in her practice, including Swedish, Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, Neuromuscular techniques, and elements of Craniosacral Therapy. Taking a collaborative approach, she often integrates neuromuscular work by offering clear guidance that encourages patients to engage their muscles and share feedback as she addresses areas of concern. For relaxation sessions, Hazel emphasizes repetition and symmetry to promote balanced physiological and psychological effects.
Hazel proudly experiences the world through movement and dances whenever and wherever possible. She loves long walks in the rain or shine, growing food, and regular feasts with friends and family.
She looks forward to working with you at Asula Pearl!
